We are still looking for a cupboard!! Has anyone got an old lockable cupboard to store equipment. Please contact Angela. Also old rackets, balls, cones, skipping ropes, outdoor play suitable for junior groups – these would be much appreciated by the coaches – if you would like to donate any to the club we would be grateful!

Membership

Bad news is that we have still not received all the subs – this is are only source of income and the club is reliant on this money to pay its bills and also to get work completed to courts if you have not paid fees these are now well overdue. Please send your cheques to our treasurer Ann Marsh.

Keys

If you need a clubhouse key – they are £5 from Angela McNeela or Ann Marsh.

Mini Tennis

The club recently hosted a round of the inter-schools mini tennis tournament. The final was held at Fulwood and we are delighted that Goosnargh St Francis won with 3 of our members – Ben Holden, Jack Hodson and Katie Bond. The team will now go through to the regional finals. We wish them well. The final is to be held Tuesday 6th July at South Ribble.

Something For The Juniors

Junior interclub ladder – interested in playing other players, Angela is looking to set up a Junior U12/U14 ladder to run after the matches finish in July till mid September – giving you lots of playing opportunities with members of other clubs in the summer holidays, finishing with a tournament and presentation. Challenge and win a player to move up the ladder.

We know that taking the plunge to try out something new can take guts, you may be apprehensive, nervous and lack confidence – the coaches at Goosnargh  Tennis Club are keen to assist new and novice players of all ages and abilities and to encourage would be players, beginners, improvers, juniors or seniors to take the plunge with tennis by offering informal group sessions at the club,  the opportunity to try out tennis in small groups in a relaxed atmosphere, with all equipment provided.

The sessions are on Monday Evenings. There is no obligation to attend every week just come as the mood or weather takes you.  For details contact  Angela 07966 315241.

Springfields first pair put up a strong battle winning one of their matches against Peter Bradley and Sue Liver but Goosnargh determined to play each point at a time and ignore the handicap won the match 6-1 after 4 hours of play . There was good tennis from both teams and the bright sunshine on Sunday afternoon made a pleasant afternoon for the visitors who came to watch.

This was the final match of an excellent season for Michael Luke who has captained both the first and 2nd Ribble, first Fylde and junior teams. With the first team winning the Ribble League, the Fylde Interclub and the Cunningham Cup and the 2nd team being promoted from their division.
