Fylde Mens Division 1

The 1st Fylde mens team are mid table in division one of the Fylde league. There have been a number of strong performances by Ben and Jonathan Churchman, with the pair only losing one rubber so far this season. Whilst Ben and Jonathan were on holiday, John Waddicor and Michael Luke have helped win some key matches against relegation strugglers Lancaster and St Annes A.

Fylde Inter-Club Knockout

Defending champions Goosnargh have again reached the final of the Fylde Inter club Knockout, which is due to be played on Sunday 19th July – supporters most welcome to come along!  This competition involves a mens singles, ladies singles, mens doubles, ladies doubles and a mixed doubles match. Representing Goosnargh in previous rounds have been Liz Russell, Fran McNeela, Angela McNeela, Heather Churchman, Tessa Pemberton, John Waddicor, Michael Luke,  Adam, Ben and Jonathan Churchman. It’s been a great team effort so far, so fingers crossed for the final.

Ribble A Team

Defending champions Goosnargh are unbeaten at the half way stage of the season this year. Players representing Goosnargh regularly in this team are Fran McNeela, Sue Liver, Jenny Dewhurst, Michelle Watts, Heather Churchman, Laura Blomeley, John Waddicor, Ben Churchman, Seb Bradley, Peter Bradley, Jonathan Churchman, Michael Luke and Joe Dewhurst. There have been supporting roles played by Julie Hutchinson, Julie Seed and Lindsay Leeming (player of the week against Chorley winning two rubbers!). There have been some excellent performances by members of the team, lets see if we can continue this for the remainder of the season.

Ribble B Team

After a difficult year last year the “B” team has bounced back with avengence Currently they are joint top of division 5 with a game in hand. Julie Seed and Pam McGrath have played a pivotable role in this by winning matches and sharing their wealth of knowledge and experience with the rest of the team. Sarah Booth, Julie Hutchinson, Lindsay Leeming, Laura Blomeley and Laurna Cowgill have also made significant contributions to the ladies team. On the mens side Dan Pearson (congratulations to Dan who has just got married!), Stuart Butcher, Malcolm Edmunds, Alex Maddocks, Mathew Bond, David Fairclough Adam Churchman and Mathew Lambert have made big improvements to the team this year, and are showing that promotion is a real possibility for this team!

Final Note

There is a rumour going round that David Fairclough has brought back Ian Banks and Rob Parker (and tried to get Jeremy Riding) to play for his Fylde team – there must be a challenge soon to the mens first team!!
